Introduction
This Know Your Customer (KYC) Policy describes how Alea Group AG verifies the identity of individual clients using our Exchange services, in line with the Swiss Anti-Money Laundering Act (AMLA) and the requirements of SO-FIT, our self-regulatory organization. For due diligence requirements applicable to business clients using our Payments services, see our AML & CTF Policy.
When Verification Applies
Identity verification is required once, before your first transaction on Exchange. You do not need to repeat this process for subsequent orders, unless we request updated information — for example, if your details change, or as part of periodic review.
What We Require
To verify your identity, we collect:
- Full legal name, date of birth, and nationality
- Residential address
- A valid government-issued identification document (passport or national ID)
- A live photo or video capture, to confirm the document belongs to you
We may request additional information where necessary to complete verification or to comply with our regulatory obligations.
How Verification Works
Identity checks are completed digitally, using document verification and biometric matching. Most clients are verified within minutes; in some cases, manual review may be required, which can take longer.
Age Requirement
You must be at least 18 years of age to complete verification and use Exchange services.
Ongoing Monitoring
Verification is not a one-time formality — your account and transaction activity remain subject to ongoing monitoring for the life of your relationship with Alea, in line with our AML & CTF Policy.
If Verification Is Unsuccessful
We may decline, delay, or request additional information if we cannot verify your identity, or if your application does not meet our risk-based criteria. Grounds for refusal are set out in our AML & CTF Policy, under Business Refusals and Termination.
Your Data
Information collected for verification purposes is processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy, including applicable retention periods under Swiss law.
